(St. Louis, MO - December 18, 2009) Comedians Arnez J, Earthquake, Sheryl Underwood and Jay Lamont come together for one night of laughter as the "Superstars of Comedy" shine at Chaifetz (SHAY-fetz) Arena at Saint Louis University on Friday, March 12 at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $44.50 and $55.50 and go on sale on Wednesday, December 23 at 10 a.m. at MetroTix.com, the Chaifetz Arena Box Office, MetroTix outlets at select Schnucks and Macy's stores, and charge by phone at 314-534-1111.
Arnez J veers away from the hard-edged raunchy and offensive styles of other contemporary African-American comedians through his clean and original humor. As an improvisational comic, he relies on impressions and exaggerations of familiar celebrities within a physical manner. Arnez will run, jump, spin, slide, and slip across stage while generating ideas on his performance from the audience. He has made appearances on Russell Simmons' "Def Comedy Jam," A&E's "An Evening at the Improv," and Comedy Central's "Make Me Laugh" all leading to his hosting gig with BET's "Comic View" in 2002.
With his sharp one-liners and brutally honest observations, Earthquake, is an up front and straight-to-the-point comic. He will often draw on his own experiences on stage while rarely preparing anything in advance. He can be outrageous at times, but shock is never the point of his routines. Inspired by Steve Harvey, Earthquake began to break into television in the early 2000's appearing in his own stand up show on HBO and various Comedy Central shows.
Even with a down-to-earth, likable style, Sheryl Underwood continues to push the envelope discussing sex, politics, current events and relationships. As a conservative woman, her show draws out bold reactions from even the most conservative crowds. Her controversial opinions as a sexually progressive, God-fearing, African-American Republican woman come across loud and clear on-stage much to the enjoyment of fans. As the 1994 BET's "Comic View's" Funniest Female Comedian, Underwood began her comedy show hosting career with BET's "Oh Drama!" and her very own show "Holla."
Growing up in Oklahoma City, Jay Lamont, started his career in broadcast radio and later transitioned into the comedy scene. He would make his way through the local Houston comedy clubs before landing his first major comedy sketch with BET. Lamont had the chance to appear on the first season of BET's "Comic View," "Showtime at the Apollo," Russell Simmon's "Def Comedy Jam," Jamie Foxx presents "Laffapalooza" and recently "Comics Unleashed Hot Chocolate" with Byron Allen.
